I frequently incorporate scrap material from my large-scale/public work (painting murals and large-scale scenery for theatre, museums, parades, etc.) into my private work. These cookies, however, are actual relics salvaged from a previous project: in 2024 I was commissioned by Longwood Gardens in Kennett Square, PA to faux-finish and decorate a life-sized gingerbread “portal” as part of their annual Christmas display. Using a combination of construction materials and craft supplies I gave the house a gingerbread-textured exterior and made all sorts of life-sized (or larger!) candies, cakes, pretzels and cookies as embellishments.
